Vetmedin

Further information for owners whose dogs have been prescribed Vetmedin

Vetmedin package Vetmedin opens up the blood vessels taking blood away from the heart, so reducing the work the heart has to do to pump blood around your dog's body.

At the same time, Vetmedin opens up the blood vessels returning blood to the heart which reduces pressure on the heart.

Vetmedin also differs from other commonly used heart drugs by helping to the heart to pump more efficiently.

It is thought that the increase in life expectancy seen in clinical studies is a result of these effects.

 How do I give Vetmedin?

What if I miss giving a capsule?

How long will my dog require treatment with Vetmedin?

How long will it be before my dog improves?

 Can my dog live longer?

Will I need to revisit my vet?

As with any long term medication, you should let your vet see your dog regularly. At first these visits may be more frequent. When your dog has been stabilised on Vetmedin, the interval between visits may increase. However, if your dog's condition deteriorates, you may need to visit your vet more frequently.

Does Vetmedin have any side effects?
