PROTECT

Protect Logo PROTECT is an international cardiology study looking at Dobermanns affected by dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a disease of the heart muscle. Vetmedin has been shown to have significant benefits in the treatment of DCM once clinical signs develop. This study will investigate the benefit of medicating Dobermanns with asymptomatic DCM to identify whether this medication will increase the time taken for clinical signs to develop, and also prolong overall life expectancy.

If your dog is found to be affected by DCM they could enter the main part of the trial which will run for 3 years. During the trial dogs will be examined at least every 6 months and receive other tests as necessary, until they reach the point where they develop clinical signs of their underlying heart disease.
